A well planned school camp makes life so much easier
Running a school camp can be full on. There are times when everyone needs a nice slow activity close to the lodge. This could be because of wet weather, filling a gap or just settling everyone down.
Here are some – if you have suggestions feel free to drop us an email. Some have been adopted from DOC, all are tried and proven at this lodge by teachers.
What Northland Native animal am I
This is a quiz (flogged from DOC and adapted to Northland) asking students and parents to consider their strong points and do some drawing.
Good if it rains or a settling down inside activity.
Treasure hunt
A low key activity around the lodge that involves finding things, thinking about things and drawing things.
Ideal for when you have a gap prior to a meal or another activity or if the weather may or may not rain.
Quick treasure hunt – Look for and record
Have groups competing to fill out a list. Ideal for a quick fill-in that burns up some energy before meal time, etc.
Set up groups or individuals
May want the following constraints:
- Set a time limit
- Only outside and in front of the lodge
- Not down a track or into the bush
