About the Tangihua Lions Lodge
The lodge is run by the Tangihua Lions Lodge Trust, a non profit organisation
Our goal: – To provide the opportunity for students and anyone else to learn to respect, enjoy and protect our environment.
How we have been achieving this for over 30 years
The lodge is designed as a school camp. There are a wide range of bush type activities provided for no additional cost. The activities are not only available for school camps but those also using it for recreation, weddings, reunions, family celebrations or groups.
It is very important to minimise students’ school camp costs so all students can use the facilities. We do this by hiring the lodge to other groups and reinvest all the money back into the lodge.
Most of the maintenance and conservation pest control is done by volunteers.
Who uses the lions lodge? – anybody and everybody can
Schools, private groups, tramping clubs, sports clubs. You.
Primarily the Tangihua Lions Lodge is an outdoor education facility for schools in Northland which stands on its own financially but is subsidised by others who use the lodge.
We keep all fees to a minimum but have fixed costs. The more who use the lodge the lower the fixed costs are for schools. Any other group using the lodge is contributing to its upkeep, allowing the Tanghua Lions Lodge to be available to many schools and children who may otherwise struggle to go there.
