Turutu, Dianella nigra New Zealand Blueberry, – This plant is poisonous
The berries are poisonous and must not be eaten.

Turutu are found.

through out the forest, and along the nature trail. They are most noticeable when they have the blue berries or white flowers

Turutu description

A tussock like plant growing to 0.5m high and up to a metre wide.

Flowers and fruit

Flowers are Green and White November – December

Fruit is blue and comes out in December – May
