Suggestions on what to bring when you come to stay at the Tangihua Lions Lodge
For recommendations on what to bring for school camps and other useful resources, see our School Camp section.
For others, the basics that you will need to bring are:
Food
The water is treated and drinkable but the nearest supermarket is nearly 40km away so it pays to bring enough food for your stay. Our kitchen facilities include everything you need to store, prepare, cook and serve food and beverages for large groups.
Cleaning Products
You will need to bring hand soap, dish-washing liquid, tea towels and toilet paper and all other cleaning products you might need. A vacuum cleaner, buckets and mops are provided.
BBQ

Looking out over the Tangihua Ranges
If you wish to bring a gas BBQ there is a covered concrete area out the back of the building. Please do not use BBQ’s on the decks as the fat is extremely difficult and costly to clean up.
Please remember that the Lodge is within a Department of Conservation (DOC) reserve so fires are not permitted at any time.
Bedding
Mattresses and pillows are supplied but you will need to bring all other bedding you require. There are pillow cases but we suggest you bring your own and put it over the one already there.
First Aid Kit
A comprehensive First Aid Kit is available but it is not suitable for taking into the bush. We suggest guests have their own conveniently sized kit for taking out with them.
