What you can expect when you hire the Lodge

Relaxing in the bunk room
Upgrade Works
After nearly forty years of use the Lodge buildings are in need of an upgrade. In 2024 we replaced a range of equipment and upgraded the plumbing to significantly increase the pressure in the showers. Last year we finished upgrading the bathrooms, replaced the carpets, upgraded the furniture and replaced the roof over the bathrooms and decking area. The total cost of this was over $170,000 and we are very grateful to the organisations and individuals who sponsored us and the volunteers who gave their time.
This year we aim to continue our upgrades by tidying up the kitchen area and replacing and enlarging the old deck that is seriously showing its age. We would also like to provide a shade sail or two to make the deck more user friendly in the hot summer months.

Bunk Rooms
The main lodge sleeps 50 people in four bunk rooms. There are two rooms with five bunks and two rooms with 20 bunks.
Large Dining Area

Dinning area, class room and dance floor
The central area of the Lodge is a 100 square meter, wood panelled dining area that can seat 80 people. On one side it is separated from the kitchen by benches and a shutter that can be drawn down and the other side opens out onto the 60 square meter front deck.
The area can easily be changed from classroom to dining hall to dance floor. Tables, seats and white boards are all provided.
Kitchen
The large, well laid out kitchen has been designed to easily feed a mass of hungry people. The kitchen comes with a sterilizer, commercial oven and stove top, large hot plate and commercial toaster. Within the kitchen is a large pantry and fridge/ freezer and outside on the covered deck you will find a chiller. All cooking utensils, cutlery and crockery are provided with enough of everything to serve 100 people.
Bathrooms
There are three separate bathrooms at the back of the building; male and females bathrooms each containing four toilets and four showers and a wheelchair accessible bathroom with one toilet and one shower.
Deck Areas

Kitchen designed to feed the masses
The deck at the front of the Lodge is 60 square meters and looks out over the grassed area and large table. The deck at the back, between the kitchen and bathrooms, is 100 square meters and fully covered, making it ideal for storing gear or for rainy day activities.
Drying Room
One corner of the Lodge houses a drying room. The room is setup with a heater and dehumidifier and can dry wet boots, packs and clothes overnight.
Small Lodge
The Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF) building is a separate building with its own bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living room. The small lodge can sleep 7 people, with a mix of beds and fold-out couches.
It is an ideal spot for those that need a break from the activities at the main Lodge, be it teachers that need some time to plan or those with young children needing an early night.
Outside Areas

Camping in the clearing
There are two large grass areas. One slopes down in front of the Lodge and has a large picnic table in the lower corner. This area is great for gathering in groups for lessons or for lying around enjoying the outdoors. The second grass area slopes up next to the Lodge and behind the smaller Lodge. There is a flat area near the top that can be used for tents.
Along the track from the Lodge there is a large clearing. In the past this area has been used for all sorts of events, from wedding ceremonies to family picnics.
Access for Vehicles
Next to the small lodge is a turning bay and gravel parking area. It is recommended that large vehicles, such as buses, or vehicles towing large caravans, do not attempt to drive the whole way to the Lodge. There is a turning bay for large vehicles and a grassed area at the top of the hill approximately 400m from the Lodge. This is well sign-posted.
