The rope trail is designed to be followed at night by holding onto a rope and making your way along the track in the dark. Alternatively, it can be done during the day with the use of blindfolds.
Students will encounter various natural obstacles along the way to help build their confidence, resilience and trust in a dark, unfamiliar environment. Teachers and parents can also enhance the experience by incorporating additional sensory obstacles.
The entry to the track is around 50 meters from the lodge. You will see the rope trail sign on the left of the driveway as you head from the lodge back towards Omana Road. The track reemerges onto the driveway where you turn right to return back to the lodge.
Feedback:
The children and their adults turned on torches for the shallow stream-crossing and there, illuminated in the silver light, were dozens of freshwater crayfish — koura — scampering about on the creek bed and its damp edges.
Then, as kids gasped or stifled the urge to shriek, and torches were dimmed, they became aware of a million tiny lights twinkling along the stream banks and in the overhanging bush. It was a galaxy of glow worms.
